DB CARGO is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Advisor to support our operations across Romania, Bulgaria, and Hungary.
This role involves providing day-to-day legal guidance, supporting dispute management, and ensuring compliance across business activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
– analyze legal issues, clarify facts, and develop practical, business-oriented solutions;
– provide legal advice and support to internal departments;
– review and manage commercial contracts in line with internal policies and templates;
– monitor legislative developments at national and EU level and communicate relevant changes internally;
– coordinate and manage legal disputes and proceedings;
– engage and manage external legal counsel, including briefing, documentation, and follow-up;
– maintain accurate records and trackers of legal cases and proceedings;
– prepare periodic reports on legal matters and case status;
– act as a day-to-day legal contact for internal stakeholders, escalating complex matters when needed;
– participate in regular calls with the wider legal team;
– draft legal communications on behalf of the group under guidance from senior legal leadership;
– prepare submissions, complaints, responses, and official correspondence for authorities and courts;
– draft legal opinions and research memoranda;
– support disciplinary procedures from a legal and administrative perspective.

– strong analytical and research skills, with excellent attention to detail;
– collaborative mindset and ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders;
– growing commercial awareness and understanding of how legal advice supports business objectives;
– well-organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
– Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law; a Master’s degree or postgraduate qualification is a plus;
– Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience (law firm or in-house);
Newly qualified candidates with strong academic results are encouraged to apply.
– Legal Knowledge: Civil and contract law; exposure to transportation, criminal, or administrative law is an advantage
– Languages:
English – business fluent (minimum B2);
Romanian – required;
Bulgarian, Hungarian, or German – a plus.
– IT Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal research tools.
